Laser Cooling: Part 1

This applet demonstrates how light can push matter around.
As photons are absorbed they impart some kinetic energy to the atom.
They also give the atom a "kick" when they are re-emitted, but
since this happens in random directions these kicks tend to
average out.

Slide the laser up and down to bombard the incoming atoms with photons.
